A Fan ran into pitch waving a rainbow flag interrupts the World Cup match
The World Cup match between Portugal and Uruguay interupped when a fan waving a rainbow flag ran onto the pitch.
The incident occurred just before Bruno Fernandes gave Portugal a 1-0 lead. The person carrying the pride flag was wearing a t-shirt with the phrases “Save Ukraine” on the front. On the backside of his tshirt have slogan of “Respect For Iranian Women”.
He was immediately sent off the pitch after stating his thoughts on Iran’s women’s rights rallies, the current conflict in Ukraine, and Qatar’s racist practices toward transgender people. The stadium staff quickly stopped and removed the violator. The chief referee Alireza Fagani raised the fallen flag and removed it from the field.
The invader from the World Cup Group H match between Portugal and Uruguay is already out without any charge.
At Lusail Stadium, Mario Ferri onto the field five minutes into the second half, forcing a brief halt as security caught and removed him.
The Italian was waving a rainblow flag and wearing a Superman shirt with the phrases “Save Ukraine” and “Respect for Iranian Women.”
Ferri acknowledged his release on Tuesday and stated the basis behind his protest.
