Aston Villa FC have completed the signing of highly rated young striker Jhon Duran for £18 million.
The Chicago Fire have signed the 19-year-old Colombia international on a long-term contract.
He is Unai Emery’s second January signing, following Spanish left-back Alex Moreno. He will wear the No22 shirt.
On Monday afternoon, Villa issued a brief statement announcing Duran’s arrival.
It said: “Jhon Duran has completed a permanent transfer from Chicago Fire for an undisclosed fee, according to Aston Villa FC.
“The 19-year-old striker joins Villa after scoring eight goals in all competitions for the MLS side during the 2022 season.
“Duran, a promising young player, has also represented Colombia at the senior level. Jhon, please accept my greetings!”
Duran’s official arrival comes just a week after Villa announced a deal to sign the teenager.
Emery, the new manager, was looking for a No. 9 after selling Danny Ings to West Ham.
Duran could make his debut against Leicester City in Saturday’s home derby.
