Gabriel Martinelli has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Arsenal. Martinelli has seven goals in 27 games for Arsenal this season, and the club is still in contract negotiations with forward Bukayo Saka and defender William Saliba.
Gabriel Martinelli has extended his contract until 2027.
The 21-year-previous old’s contract was set to expire at the end of next season, but he has agreed to a new four-and-a-half-year contract with an option for an additional year, which is a significant boost for Mikel Arteta’s side.
“We’re delighted Gabi has signed a new long-term contract,” manager Arteta said of Martinelli’s new deal. Every time he puts on the shirt, our supporters see his quality and energy, and he’s the same in training, with his hard work and positive values.
“Gabi is still very young, so we know he has a lot more to offer, and it’s wonderful that we’ll be on this journey together. We are now excited to continue developing his enormous talent and look forward to seeing him perform with Arsenal in the coming years.”
Martinelli has played a key role in Arsenal’s rise to the top of the Premier League this season, scoring seven goals in 19 appearances.
Since joining from Brazilian side Ituano in July 2019, the Brazil international has 25 goals in 111 matches in all competitions and won the FA Cup in 2020.
Arteta’s statement over the contract
“It’s fantastic that Gabi has signed a new contract with us,” Gunners sporting director Edu added. Our team’s foundations are still under work on young talent, so it’s fantastic that Gabi signed a new contract.
“Gabi is still only 21 years old and a player with a lot of talent and personality. He is an important part of our future, and we are glad that we have reached an agreement on a new contract.”
