Man Utd are confident of securing a new contract for Marcus Rashford as contract negotiations continue.
Rashford is expected to see an increase in his weekly salary of £200,000 at United. That is hesitant to break the £300,000 barrier so that one player does not earn significantly more than the others.
Casemiro earns £300,000 per week, and despite signing a new contract worth £375,000 per week in 2019. David de Gea’s salary was reduced by 25% this season after United failed to qualify for the Champions League.
United exercised the one-year option in Rashford’s contract to keep him at the club until 2024. But they want to remunerate him with new terms to deter interest from PSG.
Although an agreement is unlikely to be reached soon, Man Utd are satisfied with Rashford’s situation. And that both parties want a new contract.
The conversation between Rashford’s representative, Dwaine Maynard, and United has been described as open and constructive.
Maynard met with PSG officials in August, and PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi confirmed last month that the club was monitoring Rashford’s situation.
Rashford’s negotiating position has been bolstered by his recent scoring streak of eight goals in seven games. With his derby winner against City on Saturday, he became the first United player since Cristiano Ronaldo to score in seven consecutive games.
