Marco Verratti: The Italian’s contract has been extended for another two seasons. The Italian international is now under contract with the capital club until 30 June 2026.

Marco Verratti will be staying in PSG until 2026

PSG has announced that midfielder Marco Verratti has extended his contract. His contract with the team will go further two years, bringing the total length of his stay in Paris to 2026.

The 30-year-old has been with the team for more than ten years. And during that period has set a record by winning eight Ligue 1 championships. The Italian international has played in slightly under 400 games despite having numerous seasons marred by injuries.

Previous contract of Marco Verratti was set to expire at the end of the upcoming season, and it was said that negotiations to extend it were advanced just before the World Cup, which he missed because Italy lost in the play-offs.

The midfielder who won Euro 2021, who has made 14 appearances for the team this season, will now be seeking to add a ninth championship to his total in addition to finally making it all the way in the Champions League.

The Italian International’s statement after the contract renewal

“It gives me great pride to extend my contract with Paris Saint-Germain. I arrived in Paris more than 10 years ago, in this city that I consider my second home. I have always received a lot of support from the club. And the fans support since I started and I am very grateful for that. It was obvious to me that my story would continue to be written here. I hope to win many more trophies in the Rouge & Bleu shirt”, said Marco Verratti.

PSG’s statement to Verratti’s new contract

“We are so pleased to see Marco Verratti continue his incredible career at Paris Saint-Germain. Marco has been such a central figure in shaping the storysuccess of Paris Saint-Germain over the past 10 years, while being one of the best players of his generation. Marco’s renewal is testament to the continued growth and high ambitions of our club – and is fantastic news for Paris Saint-Germain and our fans”, said Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Chairman and CEO of Paris Saint-Germain.
