Pablo Barrios gets promotion to the senior squad after signing a new contract with Atletico Madrid. The contract will last until 2028.
In October, the 19-year-old made his LaLiga debut as a substitute in a 3-2 defeat to Cadiz before appearing in the final Champions League group-stage match against Porto just a few days later.
Pablo Barrios has made an impression in Diego Simeone’s side since the mid-season break for the World Cup, scoring in Copa del Rey victories over Arenteiro and Real Oviedo.
He made his LaLiga debut against Elche last month. He was named to the starting lineup for the 1-0 loss to Barcelona on January 8.
Barrios has appeared in six of Atletico Madrid’s seven games since the World Cup, starting four of them.
Barrios joined Atletico’s academy in 2018 after leaving rival Real Madrid.
