Suryansh Shedge, a young Mumbai all-rounder is the substitute for injured seamer Jaydev Unadkat. Lucknow Super Giants signed Shedge, the IPL team said on Thursday.
The change comes more than two weeks after Unadkat was declared out of the rest of the IPL due to a left-shoulder injury suffered while practising in the nets.
“Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Thursday brought Suryansh Shedge on board as a replacement for the injured Jaydev Unadkat. They signs him for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
Suryansh joins LSG for Rs 20 lakh, according to the franchise.
Shedge, 20, was named to Mumbai’s 17-man Ranji team last season after hitting 184 runs and taking 12 wickets in the U-25 State A Trophy.
On the same day as Unadkat’s injury, LSG’s usual skipper KL Rahul was injured while pursuing a ball in the outfield in the second over against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
LSG are presently third in the IPL rankings with 15 points from 13 matches in their second season.
They have won seven and lost five matches thus far, and in terms of playoff aspirations. Now, LSG face a must-win game against Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata on Saturday.
Suryansh Shedge joins Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)
Suryansh Shedge, a 20-year-old player, was a member of Mumbai’s 17-man Ranji team the previous season. In the U-25 State A Trophy, he scored 184 runs in eight games while also collecting 12 wickets.
On the same day as Unadkat’s injury, LSG’s usual captain, KL Rahul, was hurt. That incident occurred while pursuing a ball in the outfield during a match against the RCB.
The Lucknow Super Giants are currently third in the IPL rankings. They have 15 points from 13 matches in their second season. With seven victories and five defeats thus far, their playoff hopes are riding on a must-win game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday in Kolkata.
