Trabzonspor fans paid an emotional tribute to emergency workers with a powerful tifo ahead of their match against Basel on Thursday.
Trabzonspor hosted Swiss side Basel in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, with the club’s fans erupting in an emotional tifo before the game. The tifo depicts an emergency worker rescuing a child. It follows the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria last week, killing at least 40,000 people.
The players wore black armbands as well, and there was a minute of silence before the game began.
The Turkish Super Lig is currently on hold due to the country’s devastating events. The proceeds from Thursday’s game will be donated to earthquake victims.
On Thursday, February 23, the two teams will meet again in Switzerland for the second leg of their tie.
