Vincent Kompany has agreed to become FC Bayern's coach

According to leading German and English media sites, Burnley manager Vincent Kompany might become the next manager of Bayern Munich. According to the German tabloid Bild, the network Sky, and the English daily The Guardian, Kompany has agreed to replace Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich.

As a result, the German club is currently working on a compensation deal for Burnley, where Kompany has four years remaining on his contract.

Burnley was demoted from the Premier League after just one season.

Bayern opted to part ways with Tuchel in February after trailing eventual champions Bayer Leverkusen in the title fight.

Kompany is the most recent addition to Bayern’s extensive list of potential candidates.

Bayern Munich’s interest was reportedly rejected down by Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso, Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann, and Austria manager Ralf Rangnick.

Bayern then wanted to retain Tuchel, who had led them to a Champions League semi-final defeat to Real Madrid. However, Tuchel stated that the parties “could not reach an agreement” on his stay in the Bavarian capital.

Vincent Kompany | Managerial record

Kompany has Bundesliga experience, having played for Hamburg prior to joining Manchester City.

He took over Burnley in 2022, and the club advanced to the Premier League as second-division champions the following season.

However, Kompany was unable to retain Burnley in the top flight, and the club was demoted to 19th position in the 20-team league.

The numbers behind Kompany’s managing career

He became a full-time coach at RSC Anderlecht at the start of the 2020-21 season.

Kompany won 14 of his first 38 matches, drew 16, and lost 8.

In the 2021-22 season, with Anderlecht as coach, the former Manchester City player won 20 of 40 matches, drew 12 and lost 8. He also led the team to the final of the Belgian Cup.

In 2022-23, he was appointed manager of Burnley, who competed in the EFL Championship, England’s second flight.

Kompany won the EFL Championship in his debut season, propelling the squad to the Premier League.

He was also selected the EFL Championship Manager for the 2022–2023 season.

In the Championship, Burley won 29 of 46 games under Kompany. Draw 14 and lose 3.

Under Kompany, Burnley finished 19th in the Premier League table in 2023-24 and were relegated to the Championship. They only won five matches and lost 24 of their 28 games.
