Aberdeen FC has appointed Barry Robson as their new manager on a permanent basis.
Aberdeen FC have announced that Barry Robson has signed a two-year contract to become the club’s permanent manager, staying at Pittodrie until at least the end of the 2024/25 season.
Barry Robson has led Aberdeen to seven consecutive victories; he named Scottish Premiership Manager of the Month in March; and assistant Steve Agnew has agreed to a new two-year contract. Aberdeen are currently third and fighting for a place in Europe.
Jim Goodwin was fired at the end of January. The March Scottish Premiership manager of the month filled his shoes and guided the team back up the standings.
Aberdeen have won seven consecutive games under Robson, including a 2-0 victory over Rangers last weekend.
The Pittodrie club is now third, five points ahead of Hearts in fourth, and in command of the race for European football next season.
Robson will be assisted by Steve Agnew, who has also agreed to a new two-year contract extension with Aberdeen.
“I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to manage this fantastic football club,” said Robson.
“I would like to thank the chairman and the rest of the board for their faith in me, and together with Steve and my staff, we will work tirelessly to match the club’s ambitions.”
“Since being asked to take over the team at the end of January, the response from the players has been incredible, and the supporters have been brilliant in rallying behind the team.” They have contributed to our recent victories.

“We still have five tough games left this season, but we’re all more determined than ever to deliver European football for the fans again and, in the long run, meet the expectations of this great club.”
“I’m delighted to join Barry as part of the coaching team at this great club,” Agnew added.
“I’ve had a great time here so far.” It is a fantastic club with incredible supporters at its heart. They have rallied behind us both at home and away, and their support has contributed to our recent run of form.
“Our goal now is to finish strong this season and continue to plan for 2023/24.”
