The inaugural edition of the LaLiga Decisive Player award, developed by the Socios.com platform in cooperation with LaLiga and MARCA to honour the footballer whose performance was most essential to his team during the season, was won by Antoine Griezmann.

The French striker for Atlético de Madrid, LaLiga’s leading assister and goal scorer with 15 goals, defeated Robert Lewandowski and Iago Aspas, the other two contenders for this maiden edition of the award, which was voted on entirely by fans via MARCA.com and the Socios.com app. With their votes, Marca.com readers decided the Decisive Player of each of LaLiga’s 38 days each week. The three finalists were Griezmann (eleven times), Robert Lewandowski (three times), and Iago Aspas (three times apiece).
The second round of voting took held via the Socios.com app, with platform users able to choose amongst the three finalists. To reward consistency, each player’s vote was multiplied by the number of times he was picked as the Decisive Player of the Day (11 for Griezmann, 3 for Lewandowski and Aspas). Griezmann won with 55.1 percent of the vote, followed by Lewandowski with 36.9 percent and Iago Aspas with 8 percent as a consequence of this operation.

Griezmann will get the prize from two Socios.com platform users at the start of the next season. The first will be picked from among the over 10,000 people that participated in the poll to determine the winner. The second will be drawn from people who take part in the survey to choose the design of the prize, which will be released in the following weeks.
