Aston Villa have completed the signing of defender Alex Moreno, the club’s first signing under Unai Emery.
Emery believes the versatile Moreno will be a valuable addition to his underperforming squad at Aston Villa.
“Alex is a good player who can help our squad,” the 51-year-old said.
“He is one of La Liga’s top left-backs in recent seasons, and we are happy to have him here.”
Moreno’s transfer to Villa Park brings an end to a three-year stint at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.
SunSport understands that the Midlands club snatched the Spaniard from Real Betis for a fee in the region of £12.5 million.
However, the length of the 29-year-contract old’s with the Villans is currently unknown.
According to a club statement: “Aston Villa is pleased to announce that Alex Moreno has joined the club for an undisclosed fee.
“The defender comes to Villa from Real Betis in Spain, where he won the Copa del Rey last season.
“Comfortable playing as a left-sided full-back or in a more advanced position on the left flank, the 29-year-old has previously played for Mallorca, Elche, and Rayo Vallecano.”
Villans manager Emery believes the versatile Moreno will be an asset to his underperforming squad.
“Alex is a good player who can help our squad,” the 51-year-old said.
