Bernd Leno has agreed to a new contract extension that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.

Leno, who joined Fulham from Arsenal in 2022, has signed a contract with an option to extend by another year.

“I found out about the offer from the club during the last international break, and it didn’t take long because I think all parties were very comfortable with it,” the shot-stopper told FFCtv.

“I said right away that I want to stay here even longer, so I’m very happy about that, as well as the club’s long-term plans.”

Leno stated in an interview, “I feel there are still a lot of good years to come from me.
“Hopefully, I can give something back to the Club, to the fans, to the team, to everyone at the Club.”
“At last, we can be even more successful.”

Bernd Leno appeared in 36 of Fulham’s 38 Premier League games last season, helping Marco Silva’s team finish 10th.

The 31-year-old has continued to play an important role in the current season, appearing in all 16 Premier League matches.

The German goalkeeper has five Premier League clean sheets this season, including 5-0 wins over Nottingham Forest and West Ham United in Fulham’s last two games.

Bernd Leno join Fulham from Arsenal on 2022

Leno is arguably Fulham’s best value signing in recent memory. He came from Arsenal for a ridiculously low fee, an initial £3 million raised to £8 million with add-ons, and he has since made a mockery of that valuation.

Fulham manager Marco Silva has consistently referred to Leno as one of the Premier League‘s top three goalkeepers, and his performances have reflected that.

Last season, Leno was instrumental in Fulham’s tenth-place finish, and he was perhaps unlucky that Joao Palhinha made such an electric impact in midfield, as he would have been named the club’s player of the season. There is no doubt that Fulham’s league position and goal difference would be drastically different without Leno.

His move to Fulham has also paid off; he is once again in contention for a call-up to the German national team ahead of a home European Championship. His shape should aid in keeping him focused.

He is regarded as a top professional in the locker room. He’s also regarded as a leader within the group. This new contract extends Leno’s stay for another two years, but it is as much a reward for his performance as anything else. And no one can argue that he does not deserve it.
