Chelsea sign an agreement for Enzo Maresca to become the club’s new manager

Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Maresca

Chelsea have agreed to hire Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca as their new manager.

Mauricio Pochettino’s exit from Stamford Bridge was confirmed last Tuesday, after only one season in command.

In the days that followed, the club’s sporting directors are said to have worked tirelessly to locate the perfect manager to replace the Argentine, with Maresca being chosen.

Chelsea settle on a deal for Maresca.

Maresca, who led Leicester to the Championship victory last season, is about to take a significant step forward in his career and is the man tasked with turning Chelsea’s fortunes around.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that a contract has been agreed, and the 44-year-old will become the club’s next manager.

Romano went to his X account and wrote:

“Chelsea has agreed to appoint Enzo Maresca as new head coach; here we go!”

“Understand that the agreement has now been completed on a contract valid until June 2029, a five-year deal.

“There will also be an option to extend until June 2030.

“#CFC, set to pay compensation fee to Leicester.”

While no compensation amount has been specified, Chelsea are anticipated to pay around £10 million to the Foxes for the Italian.

Maresca, a former Pep Guardiola assistant, will be under pressure to push Chelsea back into the Champions League next season, with the Europa Conference League being regarded as a trophy the club should claim.
