Chelsea suffers injury blow before Everton clash on Sunday

Chelsea have provided a new injury update ahead of this weekend’s Premier League match against Everton at Stamford Bridge, as Mauricio Pochettino continues to battle injury setbacks.

In his debut season with the club, the Argentine has dealt with multiple injuries. In addition to Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia’s long-term injuries, key players Reece James and Christopher Nkunku have lost significant amounts of time this season.

Chelsea will aim to welcome back some players before facing Everton on Monday night. Pochettino is anticipated to deliver an update on Cole Palmer, who was substituted against Sheffield United last weekend, as well as Malo Gusto, who did not play at all.

However, the pair were not mentioned in the club’s weekly injury report. Chelsea provided an update on Pochettino’s roster on Friday, which included three new players.

Raheem Sterling and Robert Sanchez are both ‘absent due to illness’. Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi, who have played a combined 78 games this season, are questionable for the Monday night match.

According to the post, the couple are ‘undergoing medical assessment’. In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Pochettino confessed he was unsure whether they would play on Monday.

“We will see. “They are being assessed,” he said. “They have a variety of challenges. We do not believe these are major difficulties, but we will see if they are available.

“At the moment, they have not trained after Sheffield and that is why we don’t know.”

In better news, Ben Chilwell is back ‘in partial team training’, which means he might play at Stamford Bridge. Nkunku (hamstring), Levi Colwill (toe), Lavia (thigh), James (hamstring), Lesley Ugochukwu (hamstring), and Fofana (knee) are all still sidelined due to rehabilitation.
