Conor Gallagher, a Chelsea midfielder, has stated that he expects his contract situation to be “sorted out” in due course.

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over the Blues in May 2022, they have made it a priority to sign as many players to long-term contracts as possible.

Gallagher, on the other hand, is one of the minority who have less than two years left on their current contracts, which effectively makes him transferable.

That appeared to be the case during the summer, when the England international was heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with a number of clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.

Mauricio Pochettino has always praised Gallagher’s abilities, elevating him to third-choice captain behind Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Conor Gallagher has also been a consistent starter, contributing four assists in 12 Premier League appearances. He is generally leading from the front during Pochettino’s high-press.

While there has been little talk of behind-the-scenes negotiations, the 23-year-old has stated that he hopes to commit his long-term future to his boyhood club soon.

Gallagher told reporters while on international duty, “I’m sure that will get sorted out, everyone knows Chelsea is my club and I love playing for them.”

The fans are brilliant and I’m loving right now and I’m sure it will get itself sorted out.”

Gallagher commented on the uncertainty surrounding his future in the summer, saying, “A lot was going on in the summer, a big transition in the club, a lot of players coming in, a lot of players leaving.”

“I was fortunate to stay and be a part of the manager’s plans; whatever he wants me to do, I have been doing, and I will continue to work as hard as I can for him.”

“It was a crazy period in terms of ins and outs at Chelsea and I had conversations with the manager and he expressed that he liked me as a player and I was in his plans and I was really happy with that.”

Gallagher has now made 60 appearances for Chelsea since the start of the 2022-23 season, with the rest of his senior career spent on loan at Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion, and Crystal Palace.
