McGregor, who at his peak held the featherweight and lightweight titles in the Octagon. He is famous for his bad language and trash talking.
While this includes pre-fight press conferences, where the likes of José Aldo, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Dustin Poirier have all felt McGregor‘s infamous and frequently-controversial wrath, McGregor is also fond of firing shots through online mediums.
And it’s not just fighters he’s after…
McGregor recently targeted Irish comedian PJ Gallagher. The animosity appeared to have begun when ESPN analyst Laura Sanko included the former champ-champ in a list of British fighters by mistake.
Gallagher then joked that Britain “can have this lad.”
The remark clearly incensed the MMA fighter. Additionally, he appeared to make fun of his nation’s well-known struggle with mental illness in a since-deleted tweet.
“You little sad pox of a thing, PJ Gallagher. Will you please sit up straight and smile for a change?” McGregor penned a piece. “You sad little c* hahahaha wife left you an all. And your crying in the paper bout depression, posture like a prawn. Sad b****. Ireland is my name. Don’t forget about it. “Useesoo, there’s blood on my flag.”
McGregor’s post is widely condemned, with many Irish people rallying in support of Gallagher. Paul McGrath, a professional soccer player, is also on the list. He is widely regarded as Ireland’s greatest player of all time.
The former Manchester United and Aston Villa defender told Gallagher to “take no notice of bullies” like McGregor in a tweet.
