After signing with Bayern Munich, the Israeli soccer player, who holds a German passport, will have his first medical exams in Germany at the end of the week. According to sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Germany’s Bayern Munich Football Club (FC) has signed a five-year contract with Israeli soccer star Daniel Peretz from Maccabi Tel Aviv. According to the source, Bayern agreed to pay $5.43 million to Maccabi Tel Aviv for the Israeli goalie, making it one of the greatest trades in Israel’s soccer league history. Peretz is likely to go to Germany in the following weeks.

The Israeli soccer player, who has a German passport, will have his first medical tests in Germany at the end of the week, following a Conference League playoff game for Maccabi Tel Aviv against Slovenian NK Celje.

The move is being celebrated in Israel because Bayern Munich is regarded as the most successful club in German soccer history.

Bayern Munich have been looking for a replacement for Manuel Neuer, who injured his leg in a skiing accident last December. According to reports, the experienced player will return to the pitch in a few months.

The German team considered numerous other candidates, including goalkeeper Yassine Bounou (nicknamed Bono) of Morocco, who shone for the Moroccan national team at the last World Cup in Qatar. Bono eventually signed with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, and Peretz was the final decision.

The Israeli will take over as Bayern Munich’s third goalkeeper, replacing the injured Manuel Neuer and seasoned backup Sven Ulreich.
