Dimitri Payet who said an emotional farewell to Olympique de Marseille in the summer, has revealed that he will return to the club when his playing career is over.
Dimitri Payet has spent eight seasons with Marseille during his career. During that time, he appeared on 326 occasions for the club, scoring 78 goals and registering 95 assists. His time at OM, however, came to an end in the summer.
His departure was announced at a tearful press conference, during which he expressed his love for the club and promised to return. The former West Ham United forward revealed that Marseille offered him the opportunity to join the coaching staff, but he was not yet ready to retire.
As a result, he relocated to Brazil, but he has stated that he will return to the Vélodrome. “My reintegration into the club is planned.” That should be when I stop playing, but it may not be in 2025. “It will happen at the end of my career, as late as possible,” the former France international explained.
While Payet’s contract at Vasco de Gama expires in 2025, he is clearly hoping to prolong his playing career before returning to his beloved OM.
