Dominik Szoboszlai: Liverpool are allegedly confident of landing RB Leipzig midfielder with Newcastle pulling out.
Szoboszlai’s transfer to Liverpool from RB Leipzig is reportedly proceeding after Newcastle United withdrew from the race to get him.
Szoboszlai, 22, was one of the Bundesliga’s star performers last season, when RB Leipzig finished third behind Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund and won the German Cup.
The teenage midfielder has also climbed to captain Hungary and has piqued the curiosity of numerous Premier League clubs.
Newcastle has backed out of the battle to acquire Szoboszlai. Liverpool is now confident that they can reach an agreement with the midfielder.
Fabio Carvalho is likely to sign a season-long loan agreement with RB Leipzig. Liverpool and the German club are in discussions for the young star.
Despite the fact that the two marches are now irrelevant, it gives the Reds an advantage in their attempt to lure Szoboszlai in the other way.
Liverpool are famous for wanting to strengthen their midfield. They have already acquired Alexis MacAllister from Brighton for £35 million.
They are also connected to Khepren Thuram and Manu Kone from the French Under-21 side, who are currently participating in the Euro Championships.
Dominik Szoboszlai will cost the Reds about £60 million
Szoboszlai’s contract has a £60.1 million (€70 million) release clause, which Mail Sport had stated would expire on June 30.
Szoboszlai has been an important player for RB Leipzig since signing from Red Bull Salzburg in 2021. He scored 10 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions last season, including helping them win the German Cup.
Szoboszlai scored Leipzig’s second goal in a 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt to capture the title in early June.
Liverpool, which already bought World Cup champion Alexis MacAllister this summer, is keeping an eye on Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram. In an effort to strengthen their defense before the following deadline, they are also considering Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.
