Eden Hazard, the out-of-favour Real Madrid winger, intends to finish out his contract and will not leave the Spanish capital this summer.
Hazard’s contract is expiring in June 2024, and the former Chelsea player plans to see it through. The Belgian winger met with the club in February, and the two sides agreed to extend his contract for another year. Hazard is the highest-paid player on Real Madrid’s roster.
Madrid set their club transfer record to get Hazard in 2019, paying Chelsea an initial fee of €100 million (£88.3 million/$107.6 million). While the arrangement can be worth up to €160 million, not all add-ons were met.Eden has yet to make more than 20 league appearances in his four full seasons with Los Blancos.
Hazard will be get a chance to establish himself before the end of the season, according to Carlo Ancelotti.
“Eden Hazard is acceptable. He’s in training and wants to get some time in. “He should be able to acquire them in the next few games,” Ancelotti said during a pre-match press conference last week.
The winger is in transfer link with Major League Soccer, with a move feasible after his contract ends in June 2024.
