Conor Gallagher could still leave Chelsea before the transfer deadline on Tuesday night, after Everton F.C made an offer for him.
The England midfielder likely set to stay at Stamford Bridg. And he may compete for a starting spot under Graham Potter, but an exit on a permanent or loan basis is now likely to be possible.
Gallagher’s departure is more likely at this point if Chelsea can pull off a late blockbuster move for Argentina’s World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez.
Crystal Palace are also keeping interest in bringing the 22-year-old back after his good impression on loan at Selhurst Park last season. Whilst, Newcastle are keep tapping interest after agreeing to sell Jonjo Shelvey to Nottingham Forest.
Everton F.C, on the other hand, have emerged as the front-runners after appointing Sean Dyche as their managerial replacement for Frank Lampard on a two-and-a-half year contract on Monday, making a bid worth a total of £45 million using funds earned from the recent sale of winger Anthony Gordon to Newcastle.
It is remaining to be see whether they can persuade Gallagher to leave, despite the midfielder’s recent good form under Potter and his refusal to leave the club.
Chelsea are not actively looking to sell Gallagher, but they may accept Everton’s terms.
Chelsea have reopened talks with Benfica over Fernandez, sending a transfer delegation to Lisbon and making a British record bid of £105 million on Monday afternoon.
