Bundesliga powerhouses FC Bayern Munich has allegedly fired Julian Nagelsmann and will try to replace him with Thomas Tuchel.

Bayern Munich sakced manager Julian Nagelsmann. They are preparing to bring in former Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel as his replacement, according to reports on Thursday.

According to sources, Tuchel will sign a contract extension with the Bundesliga giants until 2025 in the coming days. He has also been in contact with Tottenham in recent days about perhaps replacing under pressure coach Antonio Conte.

The first person to report on Bayern Munich’s moves is Fabrizio Romano.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Nagelsmann’s time at Bayern looks to be up after the Bavarian powerhouses fired the 35-year-old. Thomas Tuchel, a former coach of Dortmund and Chelsea, is one of the potential candidates that Bayern is already talking about and may try to recruit to the Allianz Arena.

Bayern hired Nagelsmann from RB Leipzig in April 2021 to replace the departing Hansi Flick. He led them to their tenth consecutive Bundesliga title last season.

Despite reaching the Champions League quarterfinals this season, Bayern are suffering in domestic competition, trailing Tuchel’s old club Borussia Dortmund by a point and only four points clear of third-place Union Berlin.

Tuchel’s debut game as manager will come in the next edition of Der Klassiker on April 1, when he will lead the Bavarian side against his old team (watch live on ESPN+ at 12:30 p.m. ET). Bayern fell 2-1 to Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, allowing Dortmund to move into first position.

Tuchel left PSG at the start of 2021 to take over as manager of Chelsea, where he led the Blues to the Champions League title in his first half season in charge. He was replaced by Graham Potter early in the 2022-23 season when Chelsea struggled to get off to a good start.

Bayern will meet Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinals in April.
