Gavin Bazunu's incredible save earns him the Castrol Save of the Month award for November/December.

Gavin Bazunu has been named the Castrol Save of the Month for November and December. His outstanding save during Southampton’s most recent match against Liverpool at Anfield made him won this award.

The Irish goalkeeper became one of the youngest first-choice goalkeepers in Premier League history this season. He made 18 league starts at the age of 20. Gavin Bazunu has 13 senior level caps under Stephen Kenny. He is a regular not only at the club level but also at the international level.

The most memorable moment in Bazunu’s first Premier League season so far occurred at Anfield on the last weekend of domestic football before the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Although Southampton lost the game 3-1, Bazunu did himself justice by making a spectacular save to deny Mohamed Salah what appeared to be a certain goal.

The Irish international made the save in the first half, tracking a low drilled cross from Darwin Nunez on the left flank before diving to his left to deflect Salah’s first time effort on goal clear of danger.

Other nominees for the November/December Save of the Month award included Mark Travers of the Republic of Ireland, as well as Alisson Becker, David de Gea, Jose Sa, and Lukasz Fabianski.
