Harrison Ashby, the West Ham defender, has been signed by Newcastle United on the final day of the transfer window.
According to Sky Sports News, the 21-year-old joined St James’ Park for a cost of £3 million plus add-ons.
On Monday, Ashby passed his medical, and West Ham added a sell-on clause to the contract.
One of the seven times the Scottish defender played for West Ham’s first team was in the Premier League.
Harrison is a really good young player with a lot of promise. Therefore we are very happy to get him, according to Newcastle manager Eddie Howe.
We are eager to collaborate with him in this exciting new chapter of his career. It is because he has many positive qualities.
Harrison Ashby signed a long-term contract. He stated: “I couldn’t be more content. It’s a proud day for me and my family, and I can’t take my smile off my face.
“I can’t wait to attend the game tonight, meet the supporters, and experience the atmosphere.
“Without West Ham, I wouldn’t be here today. So, I thank all the coaches I’ve had from when I was young till now, but I’m thrilled to be here,” he said.
