Jadon Sancho might be given a second opportunity at Manchester United if they make a critical appointment.

Jadon Sancho may return to Manchester United again

Sancho was dropped from manager Erik ten Hag’s plans after accusing the Dutchman of lying in public about his training performances ahead of the Arsenal game in September.

Sancho, who joined the club in 2021 for £72 million, returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season in January after refusing to apologise to Ten Hag.

The 24-year-old is expected to leave the club permanently in the summer if Ten Hag stays at Old Trafford.

However, Manchester United’s pursuit of Southampton director Jason Wilcox may cause Sancho to change his tune and compete for a slot, regardless of Ten Hag’s future.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Wilcox admires Sancho after working with him in Manchester City’s Academy.

Wilcox has had a successful year with the Saints since signing last summer.

However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe sees him as an important part of his behind-the-scenes rebuilding of the Red Devils.

Manchester United are believed to have given Southampton a compensation package equivalent to Wilcox’s annual pay.

However, the “derisory” offer upset the Saints, and allegations circulated that Wilcox had sensationally resigned from his role due to the club’s refusal to accept Manchester United’s requirements.

Since moving on loan, Sancho has been hit or miss.

He contributed two assists in his first two games before going on a five-game drought.

Sancho subsequently scored his first goals since returning to Germany in a 2-1 win against Werder Bremen, as well as a goal in a 2-0 second leg victory over PSV in the Champions League last 16.

Wilcox would join Manchester United as their new technical director, working alongside director of football Dan Ashworth and incoming CEO Omar Berrada.

However, Wilcox’s appointment may have to wait a full year due to his 12-month notice period.
