Joselu is hoping to “stay another year” at Real Madrid, with the forward playing an important role for the team during the 2023-24 season.
Los Blancos re-signed the 33-year-old on loan from Espanyol over the summer, with the capital club in need of another forward following Karim Benzema’s unexpected departure.

Joselu has five goals and two assists in 13 La Liga appearances this season, and he has also appeared three times in the Champions League.

As things currently stand, the Spain international will return to parent club Espanyol at the end of the season, but Real Madrid have the option to sign him permanently.

Joselu is optimistic that his second stint at Real Madrid will not end this summer, claiming that he can “contribute to the club” in the future.

“Hopefully (staying at Real Madrid) is my goal.” I’m hoping to stay another year and continue to enjoy this. “I know what role I can play for the club, and not every team has a profile like mine, which is very different from everything,” he told COPE.

Joselu | Statement about his intention

“I can tell you that I am very happy with the role I am playing and the contribution I am making. What I want to do is keep contributing and providing solutions when the coach needs me on the field.

“We’re all aware of the caliber of that squad. I came to help as much as I could, and I believe that when the coach put his trust in me, I delivered by scoring goals and giving the team points.

“I have five [objectives].” More should arrive soon. Finally, we forwards live on that, and I am pleased because the team generates and I have scoring chances, though it is impossible to score them all because even the best players in the world have good and bad days.

“I’m happy with the number of goals I’ve scored; you can always contribute a few more, but the majority of the goals I’ve scored have been for the team to score.”

“I try to improve on the previous season every year.” I scored 17 last year and am hoping to score 18 this year. Similarly, I believe that scoring 18 goals is a good number.

“From the day I arrived, he (Carlo Ancelotti) has always been very sincere and direct with me.”

“I am very happy because I am always an option among the changes he has; when a player is unavailable, he has counted on me, and I have only words of gratitude.” When he has played, and when he has not.”

Joselu previously played for Real Madrid between 2009 and 2012, but he only made two appearances, scoring twice, before joining Hoffenheim on a permanent basis.
