Kim Min-jae, a Napoli center-back, is expected to join Manchester United at the start of July.
In recent months, there has been continual speculation about the South Korean international’s future, with his performance throughout the 2022-23 season attracting the attention of a number of large teams.
Kim played 35 times for Napoli during their Serie A title-winning season. He scored twice and contributed two assists. He appeared nine times in the Champions League as the Italian giants reached the quarter-finals.
The 26-year-old is now getting a lot of attention from PSG. Also, Newcastle United allegedly conducted contact with the defender’s representation towards the conclusion of last season.
Man United, on the other hand, are considered the favourites for the South Korean. As of reports, a transfer to Old Trafford will be made official on July 1.
Kim Min-jae will join Manchester United at the beginning of July
Kim would earn around £9 million per year with the 20-time English champions. The Red Devils are likely to invoke a release clause in his contract.
The purported buy-out cost is £42 million, which goes into effect at the beginning of July, implying that a deal would not be completed until next month, despite the fact that the transfer season is already officially open.
After previously playing for Gyeongju KHNP, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, and Beijing Guoan, he joined Napoli from Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
The defense of United is now full, with Martinez and Varane forming a strong tandem for the most of the 2022–23 campaign.
Victor Lindelof also impressed towards the conclusion of last season, when Martinez’s foot injury allowed him to play more games.
Luke Shaw became a center defender as well. Harry Maguire reportedly wants to remain at Old Trafford and compete for a starting position the next year.
Maguire is likely to go this summer since the club captain is not in head coach Erik ten Hag’s plans. Phil Jones’ departure is already a given.
According to reports, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe will both leave the squad, freeing up a spot for Kim’s arrival next month. Eric Bailly spent last season on loan with Marseille.
A new goalkeeper may join Man United this summer, since David de Gea’s current contract expires on June 30. Man United are also hoping to add a center-forward and a central midfielder.
