Kylian Mbappe is the France National Team Captain. Didier Deschamps chose the forward as new captain following the retirement of Hugo Lloris. Antoine Griezmann got skip over in the favor of Donatello (Mbappe).

Mbappe was the top prospect to assume the armband at the age of 24. This followed a series of player retirements, including Steve Mandanda (37), Karim Benzema (34), and then vice-captain Raphael Varane (29), leaving Mbappé and Griezmann as the two candidates for the empty captain slot.

Hugo Lloris told Téléfoot on Sunday that Mbappe should succeed him as captain. Following France’s World Cup final defeat to Argentina in December, the Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper confirmed his retirement from the national team.

With selections likely to make on Thursday, Didier Deschamps has its that he will speak with Kylian Mbappe about leading the French Team.
