Kylian Mbappe to cost €150m

Following Kylian Mbappé’s incendiary letter to Paris Saint-Germain, alerting the club that he won’t activate his one-year contract extension, Real Madrid are ready to provide the France captain a passage out of the Parc des Princes this summer, according to Foot Mercato.

Mbappé notified PSG that he won’t be activating the one-year extension available in his current agreement through a formal letter on Monday. As a result, the former AS Monaco attacker would be a free agent next summer. PSG, though, don’t want to lose such an asset on a free, making a move this summer a serious possibility.

The scenario is reportedly perplexing PSG’s Qatari owners, QSI, who are willing to take extreme steps to keep Mbappé at Les Parisiens.

In the aftermath of Mbappé’s stunning letter, Real Madrid, an old suitor, may return to the table. Los Blancos missed out on Mbappé last summer. The club has always planned to pursue him. That move was expected to take place in the summer of 2024, but with this recent development, Real Madrid is now poised to make their move this summer.

Florentino Perez has been in talks with Mbappé for some weeks and appears to be testing PSG’s commitment to keep a prized asset who might potentially go on a free transfer at the conclusion of next season.

Kylian Mbappe Transfer: PSG and Real Madrid in talks

Kylian Mbappe apparently told PSG that he would not be extending his contract until 2025 might have a significant impact on Harry Kane’s career trajectory.

Mbappe’s France colleague Karim Benzema’s exit has left. In need of a striker to lead their line, Real Madrid has been linked to a summer deal for Kane.

However, the shocking Mbappe revelation has effectively ended any possibility of Tottenham and England star Kane joining the Spanish giants.

Mbappe has informed his club that he would not be willing to extend his contract until the summer of 2025.

As a result, PSG risk losing their best asset on a free transfer next summer, making the next transfer window their last realistic chance of acquiring cash for him.

Mbappe, Real Madrid, and PSG would all gain from the deal. But it would be a ‘catastrophe’ for Kane, according to talkSPORT’s Rory Jennings.
