Liverpool has yet to strike an agreement with Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim on who will replace Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool are looking for a new manager after Klopp revealed in January that his remarkable eight-and-a-half-year tenure at Anfield will end at the conclusion of the season.

Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso was widely expected to succeed Klopp, but the Spaniard has already stated that he will continue with Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen next season.

Amorim, Alonso’s 39-year-old substitute, is reportedly the Reds’ best choice.

According to current reports, the team has several management.

A recent story suggests that Amorim has verbally agreed to join Liverpool in the summer, with a three-year contract on the table.

Liverpool taking their time in appointing Klopp’s successor?

However, according to BBC Sport, Liverpool have yet to establish a verbal agreement with Amorim, and their hunt for a successor to Klopp continues.

According to the source, the Reds are ‘undertaking a rigorous and robust process’ that includes significant research and due diligence on numerous potential candidates.

Liverpool has been accused of failing to provide regular updates on their hunt for a new manager, and claims that a preferred candidate has already been identified are ‘wholly incorrect’.

Liverpool’s hierarchy can now focus on their hunt for a new manager, having confirmed the return of ex-Reds sports director Michael Edwards as their new CEO of Football, as well as the arrival of Richard Hughes, who has agreed to become their new sporting director in the summer.

Liverpool FC’s next boss | Who else is linked with the Reds job?

Liverpool were linked with a move for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi earlier this year, who is thought to have an uncertain future with the Seagulls.

However, reports suggest that the Reds have lost interest in the Italian, who has subsequently become  Bayern Munich’s top priority.

Germany’s head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, has also been connected with Liverpool, although the 36-year-old is reportedly unwilling to follow in Klopp’s footsteps at Anfield.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Ange Postecoglou and Brentford’s Thomas Frank are two Premier League managers who have previously been connected with a summer move to Liverpool, although neither is believed to be on the Reds’ radar at the moment.
