Lucas Paqueta Transfer: Man City launched a £70m bid

Lucas Paqueta wants to join Manchester City this summer, but West Ham are determined to keep the Brazilian despite a £70 million proposal from the Premier League champions. Paqueta was an important player for the Hammers last season as David Moyes guided the club to European Conference League success. And the South American has surfaced as a surprise figure on Pep Guardiola’s wanted list this summer, looking to build on his historic Treble triumph last season. City is actively pursuing Paqueta ahead of the transfer deadline and is eager to conclude a deal. However, City will face a significant challenge in convincing Hammers chairman David Sullivan to trade the 25-year-old offensive midfielder.

Sullivan does not want to lose another key player to a Premier League rival after losing crucial midfielder and captain Declan Rice to Arsenal this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Sullivan’s stance changes in the final days of the transfer window, but there is a strong desire to keep Paqueta.

Lucas Paqueta wants to Join the Blues but West Ham seems to increase Price for the Brazilian

Lucas Paqueta of West Ham is reportedly the target of a £70 million ($89.4 million) offer from Manchester City.

City lost midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and winger Riyad Mahrez this summer. They have acquired centre-back Josko Gvardiol and number eight Mateo Kovacic. Now they wants to sign in new midfielder as Gundogaan’s replacement.

Paqueta, a midfielder for West Ham, was possibly offered £70 million ($89.4 million) by Pep Guardiola’s team. However, the Hammers plan to reject the offer and demand a higher price, according to GloboEsporte.

Paqueta joined the east London club a year ago for £36.5 million which may rise to £51 million with add-ons.

Under David Moyes, the club record acquisition had a strong debut season, helping the Hammers win the Europa Conference League. The 25-year-old midfielder’s contract expires in 2027.

West Ham are unlikely to allow another vital player to depart until they earn a large fee. It is because the Hammers already sold Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105 million (£134 million),

Guardiola was reportedly interested in signing Brazilian international Paqueta as a possible successor for Bernardo Silva a year ago. But the Portuguese midfielder ended up staying at City.

City begin their Premier League championship defense on Friday, August 11, against Burnley. On the other hand, West Ham open their season away at Bournemouth on Saturday, August 12. It’s unclear whether the Cityzens will pursue Paqueta further this summer.
