Luke Shaw | Manchester United have apparently received a further blow over the defender’s fitness.

Luke Shaw might miss the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury

Erik ten Hag sees the 28-year-old as a likely starter when he is available, usually starting at left back but occasionally in the middle of the backline.

Ten Hag, who appeared 47 times between 2022 and 2023, would have loved to be able to select the England international on a regular basis.

In stark contrast, Shaw has only made 12 Premier League starts this season due to injury.

Shaw was out from August 25 to November 26 due to a thigh injury. However, he returned to make six consecutive top-flight matches.

Despite another forced absence for the next three games, Shaw has started all four of United’s Premier League games in February.

Shaw hobbled off against Luton Town on Sunday after replacing him after 45 minutes against Aston Villa.

Luke Shaw suffers Hamstring Injury

According to the Daily Mail, there are now concerns that Shaw will miss the remainder of the campaign.

According to the article, Shaw has experienced a recurrence of a previous injury and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future, including England’s friendlies at the end of March.

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot already filling in, Ten Hag understands the importance of finding a backup left-back.

With Wan-Bissaka and Tyrell Malacia missing the season due to knee-surgery, Victor Lindelof and Sofyan Amrabat will be considered.

United have a hectic schedule ahead of them, beginning with a home game against Fulham on Saturday before traveling to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth round on February 28.

Following that, United will face Manchester City in a derby, with the club now on a four-match winning streak in the Premier League and three points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
