The Citizens are looking to complete the season on a high note by winning their final Premier League game at home against West Ham United on Sunday, securing a record fourth consecutive title, before meeting rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final later this month.

Pep Guardiola’s team will be fully focused on the last two games, but that hasn’t stopped those behind the scenes at Manchester City from making plans for the future, both on and off the pitch.

Three months before the start of the 2018 Premier League season, Manchester City has unveiled their new home kit, which will be worn by both men’s and women’s teams representing the club.

Manchester City releases ‘0161’-inspired kit

The sky-blue uniform design is inspired by the club’s Mancunian roots, with strands of the city’s 0161 dialling code flowing through the shirt’s trim.

“Every year, our kits provide us with an opportunity to connect with our fans in Manchester, the UK, and around the world, as shirts and larger kit collections are an increasingly popular symbol of fandom,” Serena Gosling, Man City’s Director of Integrated Fan Experience and Retail & Licensing, told the club’s website.

“By putting ‘0161’ into this year’s home kit, which resonates so powerfully with the City of Manchester, we’re able to connect fans all over the world with the club and our city in a unique way.

“We’re also pleased that all of our Replica shirts are made using PUMA’s RE:FIBRE initiative, as we continue to work towards a more sustainable future together.”

Man City claim that their new kit is made with “cutting-edge technology to provide maximum comfort and the highest performance on the pitch”.

The new home shirt is available in both Replica and Authentic versions; the Replica jersey is made with RE:FIBRE recycling technology and contains at least 95% recycled textile waste, while the Authentic shirt, which is worn by the players, is made with PUMA’s ULTRAWEAVE fabric to reduce weight and friction while also providing an athletic fit for elite-level performance.

Furthermore, Man City and PUMA have confirmed that, in a first-of-its-kind promotion, their new kit will be featured on the highly popular online video game Fortnite and its gamer-built Creator Worlds.

The Citizens’ new kit is now available for purchase in the Etihad Stadium and Arndale Centre City stores, as well as on the club’s official website.
