Manchester United rejected West Ham United's proposal to sign Harry Maguire on loan.
Harry Maguire has played a minor role for Manchester United.

West Ham United’s audacious loan bid for Man United midfielder Harry Maguire has been rejected. The Red Devils are confident that he will not leave Old Trafford.

Maguire’s future at United is uncertain, with the captain no longer first-choice at center back.

Erik ten Hag has preferred Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez ahead of the 29-year-old – with even natural left back Luke Shaw playing as a makeshift centre half at his expense recently.

West Ham are currently 18th in the Premier League with 15 points. They are only not bottom because of goal differential. They try to sign Maguire on loan, but Manchester rejects them.

The Hammers were hoping for a deal similar to the successful loan of Jesse Lingard from Manchester United two years ago.

High-flying United, on the other hand, said no, with Ten Hag keen to keep Maguire for the rest of the season.

With Man United in all three cup competitions and on a roll in the Premier League, the Dutchman believes Maguire will continue to play an important role with so many games ahead.

Maguire has appeared in 15 games for United this season, but only seven of them have been starts.
