Manchester Utd wants to sign Rafael Leao

Manchester Utd ‘want to sign AC Milan’s Rafael Leao next summer.’ Manchester United are said to be keen on signing AC Milan forward Rafael Leao during the summer transfer window.

There was a lot of speculation about the Portugal international’s future in 2022, with Chelsea reportedly turning down at least two offers for him.

Throughout last season, Leao’s future was called into question, but it was announced in June that he had signed a new contract at San Siro, with his terms set to run until June 2028.

This season, the 24-year-old has been a key player for Milan, scoring three goals and registering four assists in 13 appearances across all competitions.

Manchester Utd willing to sign Portuguese Star from Serie A Giants AC Milan

Man United, according to Fichajes, have identified the attacker as a top target, with the club planning to make a move for him during the summer transfer window.

Milan is still determined to keep Rafael Leao in the club.

Leao’s contract situation has put the Italian giants in a strong position in terms of his future.

However, the Serie A club would be hard pressed to turn down a huge offer from another major European club, and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested.

The capital club may compete with Manchester United for his signature, as the club prepares for the departure of Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Leao joined Milan from Lille in 2019, and he has made 176 appearances for the Italian club, scoring 46 goals and registering 40 assists.

The Portuguese plays primarily as a left-sided forward, the position held by Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford, but the Englishman has only scored once this season.

Alejandro Garnacho is another option in that area of the field, with the Argentina international currently serving as Rashford’s backup, with the majority of his minutes coming off the bench this season.

At least two attackers could leave Manchester United next year, with Jadon Sancho widely expected to leave in January following his spat with head coach Erik ten Hag.

Meanwhile, Anthony Martial’s contract expires in June, and there have been reports that Manchester Utd are willing to let him leave, with West Ham United showing interest.

Antony is another Red Devils attacker who has struggled this season, while Amad Diallo has yet to make a matchday squad in 2023-24 due to a knee injury sustained during pre-season.
