Mason Mount was one of the most significant summer transfers and was anticipated to play an important part for Manchester United this season.

Manchester United have confirmed that England international Mason Mount has resumed full training ahead of a Champions League push.

Unfortunately, injuries have completely ruined his campaign, but he has finally returned to training ahead of the club’s crucial run-in and could provide a significant boost to manager Erik ten Hag.

Mount has only made 12 appearances for United since joining from Premier League rivals Chelsea for an original price of £55 million.

The 25-year-old has suffered with injury and has not featured since being substituted in a 1-0 victory over Luton Town in November.

After defeating Everton 2-0 live on TNT Sports and Discovery+ on Saturday, United will meet archrivals Liverpool in the FA Cup quarterfinals on Sunday, though it is unclear whether Mount will be selected in the squad.

Following that, United will go to Brentford and Mount’s former side Chelsea before hosting Liverpool again, this time in Premier League.

They still have to face Arsenal and Newcastle United before the season ends.

Erik ten Hag’s squad is now sixth in the Premier League table and will be working hard to cut the gap on Aston Villa in fourth. Villa now leads United by eight points, with Tottenham Hotspur six ahead of United and two behind Villa.

One more wrinkle is the two additional UEFA Champions League slots for next season, which will be allocated to the leagues with the highest coefficients.

The Premier League, which is currently in a three-way tie with Serie A and the Bundesliga, is in ideal position to claim one of them.

Despite United’s continued participation in the race, former Old Trafford great Wayne Rooney stated on the TNT Sports panel for the game against Everton that he does not believe his old club would qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
