Michael Olise 'potential target' for Manchester United

Manchester United are the front-runners to recruit Michael Olise if he leaves Crystal Palace this summer.

Olise’s contract is going to include a release clause, which will become operative at the end of the season.

United’s new administration, led by minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has identified Olise as a key target for the summer redevelopment.

It is unclear how much a deal to sign Olise would cost. Yet, that would be far more than the £35 million ($43.7 million) provision in his previous contract. According to one account, the figure ranged between £50 million and £60 million.

The Red Devils is at the top of the list of clubs desiring to sign in signing Olise. It isn’t a concern not being able to play in the Champions League the following season, though.

ESPN earlier claimed that United may be willing to offer Aaron Wan-Bissaka as part of any deal to assist raise the club’s transfer budget due to restricted headroom in accordance with Premier League profit and sustainability regulations.

However, talks are still in the early stages. Manchester Utd may face competition for his signature from other Premier League clubs.

Chelsea thought they had triggered Olise’s £35 million clause last summer, but the transfer fell through  due to a technicality.

Michael Olise has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer

ESPN reports that Olise must personally inform Palace that the option is being stated, as per the contract. On the other side, Chelsea made an effort to speak with Palace directly.

The resultant delay and confusion allowed Palace chairman Steve Parish to renegotiate a better four-year contract with Olise, which he later signed.

Chelsea, who had previously chased Mohammed Kudus before he left Ajax for West Ham, eventually switched their attention to Cole Palmer, who has been a revelation at Stamford Bridge since coming from Manchester City last summer.

The west London club may attempt to renew their interest, although PSR compliance is a major concern, with Chelsea under pressure to sell numerous players soon after the season ends.

Liverpool are also in link with Olise, particularly if Mohamed Salah leaves this summer, and both the Merseyside club and Arsenal could offer Champions League football.

Arsenal have apparently scouted Olise, despite Mikel Arteta’s team has long admired Wolves’ Pedro Neto.

Manchester Utd and Arsenal are among the clubs interested in Palace defender Marc Guehi. Guehi has just over two years on his deal.

A source close to Guehi stated that the 23-year-old’s sole priority is to recover from a knee injury in time to play for Palace again this season. He seems to be among Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad for Euro 2024.
