Jorg Schamdtke, the chief personnel executive at VfL Wolfsburg, has announced that Montpellier fullback Nicolas Cozza will join the German club in January.
Despite his estimated market value being ten times that amount, the transfer fee for the 24-year-old French fullback is a modest 500,000 Euros.
Cozza’s arrival will strengthen Wolfsburg’s defensive unit, which has only conceded 10 league goals this season, second only to league leaders FC Bayern Munich.
Following the departure of Jerome Roussillon, he will provide much-needed depth at left-back.
“Nicolas Cozza is a player who has made significant progress in recent years,” Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schafer stated.
“He has a good basic tactical understanding and he is very well at producing high-quality football, which he delivers on a consistent basis despite his young age.
“We’re excited to have a versatile and promising player who will help our team,” he added.
