Nicolas Pepe to Undergo Besiktas Medical

Nicolas Pepe is having a medical in Paris today ahead of a move to Besiktas, having finally accepted the transfer after the English transfer window closed.

According to L’Equipe, Nicolas Pepe will have a physical in Paris on Monday before joining Besiktas.

According to the French site, Pepe had earlier rebuffed an offer from the Turkish club, but has since accepted in the last few hours.

The English transfer window closed on September 1st, which means Premier League clubs will be unable to sign new players until the January transfer window opens.

Other leagues, however, have later deadlines for closing their windows, and the Turkish league is one of them. As a result, Besiktas can still recruit fresh players for a few days longer.

Earlier in the transfer window, Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport reported that Besiktas had given Pepe a three-year contract offer, which the winger was considering.

Pepe has a year left on his Arsenal contract, and the club was debating whether to let him leave for free.

It’s unclear what Arsenal ultimately decided, but if there is a fee for the winger, it hasn’t been publicized in the media.

Pepe originally declined the offer, but he appears to have changed his mind.

After the Besiktas deal appeared to fall through, clubs in Saudi Arabia and Germany reportedly looked into the transfer, and Pepe returned to Arsenal for a brief period of training.

Finally, a trip to Turkey appears to be the final result of a long summer of speculation.
