Pep Guardiola agrees two-year contract extension with Manchester City
The deal will is structured as a one-year contract with a one-year extension option for both the club and the manager. That means any party may end it sooner if they really desired. The structure is similar to the one he signed in November 2020.
The 51-year-old Pep Guardiola, took charge as manager of City in 2016. He has already won four Premier League titles. And, the fans are naturally nervous that he may leave in the near future. Under his leadership, the club won the Premier League, the English League Cup, and the FA Cup four times. Man City reached the Champions League final in 2020/21, but were defeated by Chelsea.
Guardiola seems to continue with City, embracing his new-look side lead by Norwegian scoring hero Erling Haaland.
Guardiola has indicated that he has plans for life after City. And he also explained why he is so happy with the club in the summer.
“I’ve been since the day one, incredibly comfortable, for all the departments in the club and for the hierarchy of course, but especially working with these players,” he said.
“What can I say for the people on the street, in the stadium, how they take care of me and my family. That’s why I’m in the seventh season here. I didn’t expect it when we arrived.”
“The people, our fans, will live for the memories, they’ll live, it’s so nice, we enjoy together, but this season, our fans want more.
His current deal with Manchester City expires in this summer.
