Phil Neville is admitting that Inter Miami are showing interest in Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets. Neville said that both players are on his radar, which would be a tremendous coupon for Major League Soccer.
The former Manchester United player confirms his plans. He said: “I’m not going to refute or dismiss the rumors that we’re curious about Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.
“Our football club’s goal is to attract the top players in the globe. Messi and Busquets have stood out the most in recent years. They’re outstanding players who would still be a huge help to this team. It would be a game changer for MLS.
“When I arrived in Miami, I believed we’d been affiliated with every single great international football player.
“When I arrived in Miami, I presumed we’d work with every single great player in the world. “
Sergio Ramos, Dani Alves, Robert Lewandowski, Willian, Cesc Fàbregas, Luis Suarez… the list goes on.
“We’re always going to be in contact or create links with the finest players in the world. We had Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi on our team. With their retirements, we now have the ability to bring in some new designated players [who fall outside the league’s pay cap].”
Phil Neville wants Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets
Earlier this month, the French newspaper L’Equipe said that Messi is debating whether to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain beyond the current season, and that Miami is leading the race to sign him.
Busquets continues to play for Barcelona, although his contract, like Messi, expires at the conclusion of the season. He was a teammate of Messi’s at Barcelona and has been linked with a move to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.
Nevertheless, Neville has never tried to disguise his admiration for Messi, even speaking about the team’s efforts to sign him when Miami returned from the summer to prepare for the 2023 season.
“We want to get the best players in the world to our club, and he is perhaps the finest player, so the landscape has not altered at all,” he stated on January 9.
