A pregnant former Man City executive is sent to prison after stealing more than £100,000 from the club to pay for her wedding.
Fiona Barclay worked as a business development manager in Manchester City‘s hospitality department, earning up to £30,000 per year. The 33-year-old, who is presently pregnant, was caught stealing money from the club. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison, half of which she will spend.
After being arrested, Barclay informed police that she had used the stolen money to pay for her wedding. Prosecutor Ellen Shaw stated that the transaction excites suspicion “since it was a significant round number.
When questioned about the deal, Barclay admitted to making a ‘mistake’ and apologized to the club. She admits to putting £15,000 of the money into her own bank account and then returning it to the club.
