In fact, only Erling Haaland (39) and Kylian Mbappe (31) have scored more goals than Rashford this season in Europe’s top five divisions.

This marks Rashford’s 25th goal in European play for Manchester United, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo, who had 24 for the club.

Arsenal might join Manchester United in the final eight, but they must first beat Sporting Lisbon, whom they drew 2-2 with last week in Portugal.

The second leg in Seville had begun in inconclusive manner against Manuel Pellegrini’s Verdiblancos, with Juanmi missing a wonderful opportunity before Joaquin struck the post from distance.

In his debut game for United, Facundo Pellistri hit the post at the conclusion of a sloppy first half. Ten Hag’s team then play much better in the second half.

Rashford looked alert, and after an inexplicable miss minutes earlier, he unleashed a spectacular 25-yard goal to seal United’s first away win since their humiliation at Liverpool.

Given their three-goal deficit, Betis’ 50,000-plus fans were always there in hope rather than expectation, and their team blasted out of the blocks, missing a great eighth-minute chance.

Ayoze Perez put Juanmi through, only for him to drag his shot over the face of goal with Harry Maguire breathing down his neck.

After a massive let-off, 41-year-old Joaquin turned back the clock to fire a magnificent 30-yard attempt that struck the post following a tiny Casemiro deflection.

Betis were making life difficult for a strong-looking United side, but Ten Hag’s men ultimately managed to reduce the tempo and irritate the hosts without ever seeming to be in command.

The pace had slowed, but David De Gea had to be on his toes to stop Juanmi, who had sprinted between the visitors’ center-back combination to meet a wonderful through pass.

Maguire save the lively forward’s second opportunity as the noisy home fans backed their club, whose weak hopes were nearly broke in stoppage time.

Following a foul by Joaquin, Casemiro fell down on the left, and Bruno Fernandes swung in the ensuing free-kick, with the ball falling to Pellistri, who struck the post with a shot into the ground.

Wout Weghorst launched himself at it in a bid to prod it home, but he couldn’t reach it, just as he couldn’t reach a Casemiro header earlier in the game.

Before the second half began, the teams exchanged sloppy attempts, with Rashford among those who missed as he played with the bit between his teeth.

Rashford gave Manchester United an Away Match Win

Betis goalkeeper Rui Silva denied the 25-year-old after Fernandes passed onto him, leaving the attacker upset with himself for squandering a wonderful opportunity.

Rashford got out his fury in spectacular manner.

After being found by a soaring Casemiro ball, he took a few of touches before unleashing a fizzing 25-yard strike that sailed home in the 55th minute to hush the Betis supporters.

De Gea had made a fantastic reaction save to deny Perez from a corner just before a magnificent goal that effectively destroyed any possibility of a Betis comeback.

Maguire headed wide as United sought a second goal in Seville, with replacements Jadon Sancho and Marcel Sabitzer also having chances.

Fernandes being pulled off a flying wire by Casemiro, and Weghorst’s attempt got shut as United built the kind of domination Ten Hag aimed for right away.

Additional modifications softened the blow of a game that finished with United’s traveling fans pleading with the Glazer family to sell the club.
