Real Mallorca fans racially abused Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr during a La Liga match. The match was played at the Son Moix Stadium on Sunday.

Vinicius was fouled ten times during an ill-tempered match in the Balearic Islands. They were making him by far the most fouled player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

He was also targeted by those in the stand. Mallorca also decided not to issue an official statement regarding the actions of some of their fans.

Vinicius has faced racist abuse three times in La Liga, the first time at Camp Nou against Barcelona. That now followed by the same fate against Real Valladolid in December 2022.

The cries in question “lasted a few seconds,” according to Madrid’s prosecutors. And that did not amount to a crime. As a result, no one was to be charged in relation to the events in Catalunya.

Vinicius has spoken out against the lack of action from La Liga, accusing them of doing nothing to eliminate racism and other forms of prejudice from the game, with Javier Tebas later claiming that the accusations made against the Spanish top-flight were “unfair and untrue”.

Vinicius is also the subject of a possible hate crime investigation by Spanish police after a mannequin wearing his No.20 shirt was hung from a bridge ahead of Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey match against Atletico Madrid on January 26.
