Sebastien Haller will be out for a week due to ankle problems, Dortmund coach, Eden Terzic announced on Monday.

To more precisely quantify the downtime, a conclusive diagnostic is likely to be made on Saturday.

We estimate he will be unavailable for two to three weeks. Haller scored late in Dortmund’s 2-1 first-leg loss to Atletico on Wednesday, but was injured early in the Bundesliga triumph over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.

He recovered from a left ankle injury to play for Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations, scoring in the final to win the trophy, but returned with a recurrence of the ailment and only appeared as a substitute for Dortmund before making his first league start since mid-September on Saturday. He had to come off in the ninth minute.

English forward Jamie Bynoe-Gittens also left with a back injury, although Terzic stated that he “already feels better and we hope he can take part in training with us.”

Jadon Sancho missed the trip to Monchengladbach due to illness, but he was back with his teammates on Sunday and appeared to be ready to return to the Atlético squad.
