Sevilla FC have reportedly won the race to sign Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri on loan.

The 20-year-old’s contract was extended earlier this month, tying him to Old Trafford until the end of the 2024-25 season.

Despite signing a new contract with the club, Hannibal has been linked with a move away due to a lack of playing time.

This season, the Tunisian international has made only ten competitive appearances, six of which have come from the bench.

Hannibal and the club have decided to send him out on loan in order for him to gain regular playing time.

Sevilla FC to sign Hannibal from the Red Devils?

Sevilla FC emerged as an early contender for the youngster, before Everton entered the race to sign him.

According to The Athletic, Sevilla will fend off Everton’s interest after reaching a provisional agreement with Manchester United.

The two clubs have agreed to a loan agreement until the end of the season. The agreement also includes with a €20 million (£17.2 million) purchase option including add-ons.

While Sevilla have the option to sign Hannibal in the summer, Manchester United are planning to include a buy-back clause, giving them the option to sign him later.

While the agreement’s final details are ironed out, Hannibal is scheduled to travel to Spain for a medical examination.

Sevilla will be hoping for an immediate impact from the midfielder as they look to rebound from a difficult season.

The Andalusian club was eliminated from Europa after finishing bottom of their Champions League group, and they are currently 17th in La Liga, one point above the drop zone.

They’re also on their third manager of the season, with Quique Sanchez Flores in charge since his appointment in December.

Sevilla takes on Getafe in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday before facing Girona in La Liga on Sunday.
