Stefano Pioli to depart from AC Milan following a poor season

Milan has revealed that Stefano Pioli will leave the club at the end of this season, following nearly five years. Tomorrow’s game against Salernitana will thus be his last with the club.

The official announcement was forecast soon after Milan let Pioli of their decision earlier this week. On Friday morning, on the eve of the match against Salernitana, Milan announced the departure on their official website.

“AC Milan and Stefano Pioli announce that the Mister will leave after the current season, having been in charge of the First Team since October 2019.”

AC Milan expresses profound gratitude to Stefano Pioli and his whole staff for directing the First Team over the last five years, securing an unforgettable League title and reestablishing AC Milan’s consistent presence in Europe’s top competitions.

Stefano’s professionalism and human touch have made a big contribution to the squad’s evolution, embracing the Club’s key values since the beginning.

Stefano Pioli made future decision

Stefano Pioli thanks AC Milan for the opportunity to be a part of their illustrious history. He is grateful to the ownership, management, team, staff, and everyone at Milanello and Casa Milan for their unwavering support and commitment.

He also acknowledges the countless fans who have enthusiastically supported AC Milan over the years, exhibiting unflinching loyalty,” the statement added.

Pioli took over the club in October 2019, succeeding Marco Giampaolo, and has returned them to the Champions League, won a Scudetto, and advanced to the UCL semi-finals. To put it briefly, even though this season was frustrating, we should be grateful for his presence.

Tomorrow’s game against Salernitana, which will be played in front of the home fans at San Siro, will be an opportunity for fans to bid farewell to the boss. That’s also why Milan chose to announce the departure now rather than after the game.
