The Parisians is not sure about Lionel Messi’s contract renewal.

Lionel Messi is getting closer to being a free agent in the summer as his contract with PSG expires at the end of the season.

Negotiations for a new contract for Argentina’s captain are ongoing for some time, with reports claiming that a verbal agreement on an extension reached in December.

Yet, questions have begun to surface over Messi’s future in France beyond the current season. According to reports this weekend, the record Ballon d’Or winner is considering making a return to Barcelona a priority this summer.

Thus, the Ligue 1 winners are now considering their next actions as they prepare for the next phase of the project following yet another dismal campaign in Europe that finished with another Round of 16 loss from the UEFA Champions League.

Barcelona, for one, wants to re-sign their club idol if he decides not to stay in Paris. Financial Fair Play will determine if they can afford to invite him back to the club for one more dance.

The Parisians and Messi’s Contract is still under suspense

According to a recent report from L’Equipe, PSG is ‘no longer sure’ if they want to renew Messi’s contract or not.

This comes after the 2022 FIFA World Cup champion was booed and jeered at by PSG fans following the club’s Ligue 1 defeat to Rennes over the weekend.

On the final whistle, the former Barcelona captain went directly to the tunnel, without joining his colleagues who proceeded to clap and apologize to the fans.

The Parisians are no longer sure that they should extend Messi’s contract since it is clear that some of the club’s supporters do not want it to happen.
