January 17, 2023

Three English clubs, Arsenal, Man Utd & Newcastle United are reportedly planning a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is set to leave the Serie A leaders at the end of the season.

Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle are all interested in signing the attacker, but will have to pay around £133 million to do so.

Osimhen became Napoli’s club-record signing when he arrived in July 2020 for €70 million, and he has exceeded all expectations.

Osimhen has raised the bar after scoring 14 goals in 27 league appearances last season. That includes finding the back of the net 12 times with four assists in 14 league appearances in 2022-23.

With Napoli nine points clear at the top of Serie A and chasing their first title since 1989-90, a January sale is out of the question. But talks are expected to heat up at the end of the season.

Napoli believe that if Chelsea newcomer Mykhaylo Mudryk is worth €100 million (£88.5 million), Osimhen is worth €150 million (£133 million).

The Nigerian international’s contract binds him to the Italian club until 2025. He is provided I Partenopei with enough leverage to hold firm at what they believe is a fair valuation. But they will be forced to listen to offers at the end of the season. That will only happen if he shows no sign of signing an extension.

According to the report, Three English clubs; Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle have already expressed interest. Arsenal appears to be weighing a number of expensive options after declining to meet Mudryk’s asking price.
